October Update

We reflect on our time in Majorca and look ahead to our Reunion day on the 8th of November.

Dear Friends

As we now enter the Autumn months, temperature changing we look back on another fantastic SONAS holiday this time to Majorca.  There were twenty people on the trip and lead so capably by Arthur and Anne Jones.  The weather was perfect for us all and we had a brilliant time on holiday, sharing Christian Fellowship.

Below is a report from Alan Campbell one of our holiday makers who also played his guitar for the worship.

Please remember our Reunion Day on 8th November and we hope for as many as possible to attend and remember our first year as SONAS Christian Holidays to celebrate the wonderful success of all our holidays this year. We have our six destinations finalised for 2026 and just awaiting all the final details of each destination before they are uploaded to the web site.  We will inform you all when that is uploaded.

Please do remember that if you want to book a holiday for next year, the membership costs will remain the same at £30 per head for 2026.

Regards

Majorca – Alan Campbell

Sonas holiday to Majorca. Staying in the Reverence Life Hotel in Santa Ponca. (1st - 8th October 2025)

Day 1. (Wednesday) 6:15am early flight from Glasgow AirPort. 20 of us took a 3 hour flight to Palma Airport in Majorca. 45 minutes took us by bus to our hotel.

After dinner in our meeting room Arthur started his talks about our attitudes. Then Early to bed after an early start to the day.

Day 2. (Thursday) Morning thought after breakfast from Anne. Then out for a walk into Santa Ponca and along by the sandy beach and seashore. Swimming at the pool, sunbathing and reading our books in the afternoon. Second evening meal of salads, main courses and puddings went down well. At our meeting we sang and listened to Arthur sharing how our attitude should be the same as Jesus’s attitude.

Day 3. (Friday) After a good breakfast we set out by bus to Palma. Driving into the town we passed a lot of Cruise Ships of various sizes before being dropped off at Palma Cathedral by “Angel” the bus driver. What a magnificent cathedral outside and in. Some of our number went into the cathedral while others walked down quaint narrow streets into Palma, passing other nice buildings, coffee bars, restaurants and shops. Late afternoon back at the hotel swimming with some swimming in the sea. We also enjoyed sharing Bob Christie’s birthday, we sang happy birthday to him after dinner and ate birthday cake.

Day 4. (Saturday) Breakfast consumed, walk along the beach and must of us enjoyed a two hour boat trip around the bay. In the evening we had a five course meal cooked for us which was very enjoyable.

Day 5. (Sunday) Breakfast followed by communion and short talk from Nick. Afternoon some of us walked to the local marina (Sa Morisca ). Above the Marina we looked at a historical memorial which overlooked the sea. Others in our group, walked to the local beach and around Santa Ponca.

Day 6. (Monday) Coach trip to Valldernossa and Port de Soller. Valldernossa is a lovely place with quaint streets and old monastery buildings, gardens and picturesque views and  good cafes. Port de Soller is a lovely seaside town with a white sandy beach where we enjoyed the view and most of us had lunch.

Day 7. (Tuesday) Another sunny day. (24degs). Day for doing your own thing. Walks enjoyed around Santa Ponca, last minute presents bought, some of ladies took a trip to the town of Andratx. Last talk from Arthur about our attitudes.

Day 8. (Wednesday) Picked up early from the Hotel to airport. 11:15am flight to Glasgow. Memories made on a good holiday, made better with good weather, good food and really good company. Remember to look up the next Sonas holiday, book up and come and enjoy a wonderful holiday experience.
