Anne & Arthur Jones
Arthur and Anne have been involved in leading many Agape club holidays over the years. Both have been teachers in a past life, Anne as a French and German teacher and Arthur as headteacher of a secondary school. They are active members of the Baptist Church in Ardrossan.
If you want to enjoy a sun-drenched autumnal escape, why not come with us to beautiful Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands and a jewel of the Mediterranean. This stunning island has dramatic mountains, picturesque coastlines, charming historic towns and is blessed with an all-year pleasant climate.
We are to be in the popular coastal town of Santa Ponsa, which is located in the south west of the island. The town is set in a sheltered cove with a vast sandy beach that is lined with pine trees. The crystal-clear waters might entice you to go swimming but, for the more adventurous, there are lots of water-related activities available, including paddleboarding and kayaking. If you want to explore the spectacular coastline you can take an invigorating boat trip and possibly visit the Sa Dragonera National Park Island, a protected nature reserve with fascinating wildlife. For a more relaxed experience, you can stroll along the beautiful waterfront promenade and then wander along the coastal path to the neighbouring town of Costa del la Calma, which is apparently the best place to watch the magnificent sunsets. Santa Ponsa also boasts three golf courses, a tree top adventure park and has a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants.
There are good public transport links, so you might want to visit the capital of Palma, which is 18 km away, and see the magnificent 14th century Gothic cathedral, amble along the cobbled streets and view the beautiful harbour from the hilltop castle. There are so many options for interesting day trips from Santa Ponsa and the leaders will discuss potential excursions with the group. Any tours, and entry to places of interest, will be additional to the cost of the holiday.
We will be staying in the four-star Reverence Life Hotel which has comfortable and modern accommodation and is located a short walk from the beach. The hotel consists of four different buildings with each bedroom having a walk-in shower. The hotel has a fitness centre and eight pools, including a roof top one with spectacular views of the bay.

Morning thought after breakfast from Anne. Then out for a walk into Santa Ponca and along by the sandy beach and seashore. Swimming at the pool, sunbathing and reading our books in the afternoon. Second evening meal of salads, main courses and puddings went down well. At our meeting we sang and listened to Arthur sharing how our attitude should be the same as Jesus’s attitude.
Day 3. (Friday)
After a good breakfast we set out by bus to Palma. Driving into the town we passed a lot of Cruise Ships of various sizes before being dropped off at Palma Cathedral by “Angel” the bus driver. What a magnificent cathedral outside and in. Some of our number went into the cathedral while others walked down quaint narrow streets into Palma, passing other nice buildings, coffee bars, restaurants and shops. Late afternoon back at the hotel swimming with some swimming in the sea. We also enjoyed sharing Bob Christie’s birthday, we sang happy birthday to him after dinner and ate birthday cake.
